Cookery Club is open to all students from 1st to 3rd year regardless of whether of not they study Home Economics. It runs one day a week for a six week period form November to Christmas with the possibility of a further six weeks late in the academic year.
The focus is on acquiring basic cookery skills that young people will be able to develop and expand upon throughout their lives. It is an excellent opportunity for 1st year students who do not study Home Economics to learn how to prepare their own meals and to take more responsibility for their own lives. It is particularly useful to 3rd Year Home Economic students as it gives them the opportunity to prepare for their Junior Certificate Examination.
Dishes cooked range from sweat treats such as chocolate chip cookies and queen cakes to more practical savoury dishes such as spaghetti bolognaise and chicken curry. Cookery Club is a popular course as it affords the students an opportunity to develop a flair for cookery in a relaxed and friendly environment.
