Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Board of Management of Loreto College has been informed that the Deputy Principal, Ms Mary McAteer as well as Ms Maria O’Leary, Ms Marian Stenning, Ms Elaine O’Connor and Ms Martina Kelly (all of whom are Year Heads) have decided to retire from teaching with effect from August 31, 2014.

The news of their retirements has been received with great regret. We are grateful to each one for her long and dedicated service to the students of the College.

In these unusual and unexpected circumstances, the Principal, Ms Barrett, has agreed to the request of the Board of Management that she would defer her intention to retire until August 31, 2015.

Ms Barrett has made this exceptionally generous decision in the interests of the students and staff of the College.  We deeply appreciate her agreement to our proposal and we are grateful that she will continue to lead Loreto College for a further year.

We look forward to maintaining the high standard of education which you expect in Loreto College and thank you for your support and co-operation in this.
