On Tuesday the 20th of May, 1B and 1M took part in a Skipathon in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs. The girls and I had great fun skipping solo, in pairs and all together with the big skipping rope.
The next day we had a lovely surprise! Fiona Whooley and her son Murray surprised us with their guide dog Clive. Murray is 15 years old and has Autism. Clive has been a tremendous help in allowing Murray to live a normal life. Fiona explained to us how Clive helps on a daily basis, and how he is a part of their family. Fiona told us that it costs €35,000 to train a guide dog. It was lovely to see how close Clive and Murray are.
Fiona, Murray and Clive enlightened us on how much a guide dog can benefit people with disabilities. We raised €300 for the charity by taking part in the Skipathon, and it is marvellous to know that it is going to such a devoted, hardworking charity.
