On Friday 10th October, the inaugural inter Loreto Sailing Regatta was held in Malahide Yacht Club. All Loreto Schools were invited and a total of 34 students from 7 schools took to the water. Cara Mc Dowell (Portmarnock Community School) sailed an extremely consistent series to win the individual title.

With school honours at stake, the team event was hotly contested with every place counting. Lots of calculations were done on the water by the girls, to figure out who needed to beat who. At the conclusion of racing, the first winner of the Sr. Hildegarde Shield was Loreto St. Stephen's Green, closely followed by Loreto Balbriggan in 2nd place. Congratulation to our victorious sailing team Nicole Hemeyck, Eilis O'Reilly, Gemma McDowell, Nell Staunton and Ella Hemeyck. Congratulations also to Nicole Hemeryck who was narrowly beaten into 2nd place in the individual event.

Finally, a huge thank you to Ms. Ciara Peelo for her vision and incredible hard work in coordinating the event. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and the girls are already looking forward to defending the title next year!
