Visit of Annalise Murphy

On Thursday 8th of September the staff and students were extremely fortunate to have a visit from Olympic Silver Medallist Annalise Murphy.  She was met at reception by the sailing team, who showed her over to the sports hall where everyone was waiting.  As the Olympian walked in to the hall, medal in hand, she was greeted by claps, screams and shouts, everyone was amazed to see an Olympian and Olympic medal in real life.

Ms Peelo had received questions from students which Annalise answered in a mini interview.  Some of the questions were about her sailing career and others about her everyday life.  We learned all about how she qualified for the Olympic Games and how she overcame the heartbreak of missing out on a medal in 2012 and what kept her motivated for 2016.  It was a great experience for everyone and many were inspired by her story, especially as she only started sailing seriously in 6th year, a much older age than her Olympic competitors.

We are all very grateful to Annalise for taking time out of her busy schedule to come and visit our school.  Also thanks to Ms Peelo for organising the visit.

Congratulations Annalise on your silver medal, we are all very proud of you!
