On the 18th December 2017 two past pupils of the school and Dublin Ladies GAA players came back to visit the school with the Brendan Martin Cup. Back in September the girls in blue won the Brendan Martin cup at the All Ireland Final against Kerry. This was a historic and well deserved win for Dublin as they had been runners up for the past three years in a row. Noelle won Player of the Match at the final, she was also awarded her third All Star last month along with the coveted Players Player of the Year. We were delighted to have Noelle, who graduated in 2009 and Deirdre, who graduated in 2013, back to the school.
There was a great turn out at the event in the sports hall and all the students and teachers were eager to meet Noelle and Deirdre. They both said a few words and were presented with flowers by the Gaelic Committee. Afterwards they signed jerseys and took pictures with the students and the various gaelic teams in the school. They then went to the front steps to take photos with the Gaelic Committee. It was a great day for all involved and the two girls serve as an inspiration to all gaelic players in the school and to all sports players in the school in general. We, as a school community, are very proud of them for all they have achieved. We would like to say a huge thank you to Ms. Crinion for organising the event and to Mr Mulligan, Mr Quinn and Ms. McTaggart for all the work they put into Gaelic Football in the school.
