There was great excitement in the Exam Hall in Trinity College this morning for the opening of our first ever Loreto Literary Festival ‘Telling Tales’. The aim of Telling Tales is to keep on improving the writing and reading skills of all students, spark creativity, and give them the freedom to explore aspects of ‘Literacy’ that can’t always be covered through the curriculum or the school library. It’s an ‘academic’ exercise in some ways, but one that also aims to be inspirational and, crucially, fun! Schools travelled from as far as Kilkenny and Fermoy to attend.
Telling Tales is the brainchild of our wonderful Librarian, Aileen Ivory. She has put an enormous amount of work into organising the event and ensuring that everybody has an enjoyable experience. Students attending will enjoy workshops with author Dave Rudden, broadcaster Rick O’Shea and many others. They even get to bring home a book.
Well done Ms. Ivory!
