Hockey has been played in the Green since the 1920’s and for many years training took place in Dartmouth Square.  In recent years the practices have been organised in various Hockey grounds around the city.  Our home ground is now located in YMCA Sports Grounds, Sandymount. This requires the girls to travel after school to reach the grounds for matches and some training. The addition of the Astroturf pitch in the school has been of great benefit, as the girls can now train in school.

Since the installation of the pitch there has been a great increase in the numbers playing Hockey, with an average of 100 girls now on teams.  Similarly to Basketball, the girls are entered in the Loreto and Leinster Leagues with matches played on Saturdays and mid-week.  Pupils are expected to train once a week, sometimes more often.
